Sooz Young
Scottish Entrepreneur & Digital Skills Leader
Sooz Young is a Scottish entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of Technology Coaching, a company dedicated to helping business owners, teams, and professionals thrive in the digital age.
With over 15 years of experience in technology training, digital marketing, and business growth strategy, Sooz specialises in turning complex digital concepts into practical, results-driven skills.
Her mission is simple: to equip people with the tools, confidence, and mindset they need to succeed in a connected world.
The Journey
From "Be You All You Can Be" to Digital Skills Leader
Sooz’s career began at the Strathclyde University Summer Academy, where she was trained to inspire young people to “Be all you can be” – a philosophy that has shaped her approach to learning and development ever since.
Mentored by Christine Percival, she first experienced the power of gamified, discovery-based learning – an approach she still uses today across Technology Coaching programmes.
After graduating, Sooz moved to Japan to teach students aged 0 to 80 years old.
She started at Nova, then moved to English For You Eikawa.
At English For You School they taught the Pacific Language School method.
She delivered lessons through a learning-through-play methodology for children, and used the lexical approach for adults, focusing on conversational fluency.
This experience not only deepened her understanding of different learning styles and teaching techniques, but also strengthened her adaptability, empathy, and creativity – all essential components of her Digital Mindset framework.
When Sooz returned to Scotland, she joined Apple as a Creative – a role designed to teach individuals, staff, and businesses how to use technology in creative and practical ways.
At Apple, every day was different. One session might be a one-to-one tutorial with someone learning how to use their iPhone for the first time; the next could be a business workshop exploring how to streamline workflows using Mac, iPad, and cloud tools.
Sooz also delivered group training sessions on video editing, music production, design, photography, and presentation skills, helping people unlock their creativity through Apple technology.
This was the first role where Sooz could bring together everything she had studied and experienced:
Her degree in Applied Music (specialising in industry modules like recording and sound production, music and computers, and music for film).
Her teaching background from Japan and Strathclyde, using discovery-based learning and gamified approaches to make sessions engaging.
Her customer service and problem-solving skills from retail and education.
Sooz became an Apple-accredited Final Cut Pro editor, teaching customers how to create professional-quality video content.
She also worked with small businesses and creative professionals to find innovative ways of using technology to achieve their goals, whether that was launching a new brand, producing a marketing video, or managing their workflow more effectively.
Her time at Apple shaped not only her technical expertise, but also her ethos as a trainer: listen first, understand the person’s needs, then tailor the technology to work for them.
This people-first approach remains at the core of Technology Coaching today.
Sooz then moved into the corporate legal world with Ashurst, where she honed her expertise in CPD accreditation, learning management systems (LMS), and the ethical and legal dimensions of technology training.
She supported the organisation of major IT infrastructure projects across 26 global offices, coordinating trainers, sessions, and content in the LMS.
This scale of delivery gave her the confidence and expertise to later lead large digital training programmes, such as Facebook’s Digital Skills Programme, which upskilled over 3,000 young people across Scotland.
More importantly, her time in the legal sector reinforced her commitment to ethics, compliance, and accessibility in all aspects of training, principles that remain at the heart of her work today.
In 2017, Sooz founded Technology Coaching, bringing together her experience from education, tech, and corporate training into a single mission: to empower people and organisations with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age.
What started as a small consultancy has grown into a trusted CPD-accredited training provider, delivering programmes across Scotland and beyond.
Since its launch, Technology Coaching has:

Through Technology Coaching, Sooz has combined everything she learned in her career into a business that reflects her values: integrity, creativity, collaboration, fun, community, and empowerment.
The Origins of a Digital Mindset
The idea of a Digital Mindset didn’t appear overnight.
It grew from Sooz’s lived experiences across very different worlds: classrooms in Japan, creative sessions at Apple, the structure of global law firms, and her work with businesses across Scotland.
At the Strathclyde University Summer Academy, she saw how gamified, discovery-based learning could unlock confidence and creativity in young people.
In Japan, teaching students from ages 0 to 80, she experienced firsthand how empathy, adaptability, and communication skills were just as important as the technical side of language learning.
At Apple, she witnessed the power of technology to amplify creativity, but only when people were given the confidence and mindset to use it.
And at Ashurst, she understood the critical role of compliance, ethics, and CPD accreditation in professional learning.
Over time, these lessons connected into a single truth: technical skills alone are not enough.
To thrive in the digital age, people need both technical skills (like social media, data, cyber security, AI) and essential human skills (like creativity, adaptability, collaboration, problem-solving, and empathy).
One without the other creates imbalance, but together, they build resilience, confidence, and success.
This philosophy became the foundation of Sooz’s Digital Mindset framework and later evolved into the Tekunoji Method: a structured, CPD-accredited approach to building a complete digital mindset across six core digital skills:
- Innovation,
- Web Presence,
- Social Media Marketing,
- Cyber Security,
- AI & Automation and,
- Making Decisions with Data.
Today, whether working with entrepreneurs, teams, or entire organisations, Sooz’s goal is the same.
To ensure people don’t just learn how to use digital tools, but develop the mindset and essential skills to use them well, with integrity, creativity, and confidence.
Mission and Values
Sooz’s mission is to empower people and organisations to develop a complete digital mindset, combining technical and human skills so they can thrive in the digital age with confidence, creativity, and purpose.
Through Technology Coaching, she helps entrepreneurs, teams, and professionals not just learn digital tools, but build the mindset to use them effectively, ethically, and with impact.
The goal is simple: to make digital skills accessible, practical, and transformative, whether for a small business owner finding their voice online, or a team adapting to AI-driven change.
Core Values
Sooz’s work is guided by six core values that run through everything she does:

These values aren’t just words on paper, they are lived daily.

Today, they underpin every course, workshop, and programme she delivers.
Impact and Credibility
Since founding Technology Coaching in 2017, Sooz has supported thousands of people to grow their confidence, visibility, and digital skills.

A Personal Note
Beyond the training rooms, boardrooms, and stages, Sooz is a creative at heart.
She has a degree in Applied Music, spent years teaching in Japan, and still brings her love of music, culture, and storytelling into her work.
When she’s not designing digital learning experiences, you’ll likely find her walking with Disco, her ruby Cavalier King Charles spaniel, or planning her next adventure.
Technology should never replace the human connection, it should amplify it.
